Statement of Cebu Pacific - Patients positive for Novel Coronavirus

As of February 2, 2020

Cebu Pacific is working closely with the Department of Health and its attached agencies, the Bureau of Quarantine and the National Epidemiology Center to contact all passengers aboard the same flights taken by the patients who tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus (NCoV).

We are in the process of contacting all passengers who were aboard the following flights last January 21, 2020:
- 5J 241 (Hong Kong-Cebu)
- DG 6519 (Cebu-Dumaguete)

Passengers on the above-mentioned flights who have not been contacted are requested to contact Cebu Pacific via +632 87020886 (7:00am to 10:00pm daily, Manila time).

We also advise them to seek immediate medical attention if they have flu-like symptoms such as coughing, colds and fever.

The cabin crew and pilots on affected flights have been placed on quarantine, and aircraft used for both flights have undergone thorough disinfection.

In light of this situation, Cebu Pacific has cancelled all flights between the Philippines and mainland China (Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Shenzen) until March 29, 2020. Flights to and from Hong Kong and Macau, on the other hand, have been reduced.

Passengers affected by flight cancellations are being notified through the contact details provided upon booking. They may also check the status of their flights through the Manage Booking portal in the Cebu Pacific website, https://book.cebupacificair.com/Manage/Retrieve/.

The following options are made available for passengers on cancelled flights:
- Rebook the flight (new flight date within 30 days of original travel date);
- Refund the tickets in full;
- Store the value of the ticket in a Travel Fund for future use.

Cebu Pacific is working with the authorities in the guidelines and handling of passengers flying to the Philippines, in light of newly-released directives from the government.

We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

As of January 31, 2020

Cebu Pacific is working closely with the Department of Health (DOH) and the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) on the necessary actions after the identification of the 38-year old Chinese female passenger confirmed to be positive with the Novel Coronavirus (NCoV) who took Cebu Pacific flights last January 21, 2020.

We are in the process of contacting passengers seated in the vicinity of the positive NCoV patient and are taking the necessary precautions to inform them so they can have themselves checked in case they show flu-like symptoms.

The cabin crew and pilots on affected flights have also been informed and show no symptoms of illness.

The aircraft used for both flights have been pulled-out of the line and are undergoing thorough disinfection.

To reduce the risk of infection across all of our flights, we are implementing preventive measures, which include:

  1. Cleaning and disinfection of aircraft in between flights
  2. Wearing of face masks by our employees, frontline personnel and cabin crew while on duty
  3. Providing face masks to passengers who show symptoms of illness
  4. When possible, isolation of passengers who manifest symptoms of illness in empty rows inside the aircraft during the flight
  5. Coordination with health authorities in case there are passengers suspected of NCoV contamination for immediate turn-over and further observation

We have reduced the flights between the Philippines, mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau from February 3 to March 29, 2020 in light of the situation.

Passengers who wish to check the status of their flights may do so through the Manage Booking portal in the Cebu Pacific website, https://book.cebupacificair.com/Manage/Retrieve/.

We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
